Stratis Masternodes govern the InterFlux Sidechain in a completely trustless manner, generating high levels of decentralization. Anyone can become a Stratis Masternode by simply meeting collateral requirements and ensuring adequate uptime. A Masternode is responsible for voting for projects proposing to the SDA and whitelisting new contracts deployed on the Smart Contract network.
Masternodes operators are rewarded through the integration of a protocol-defined incentivization scheme. Fifty per cent of the STRAX Blockchain block reward is distributed to Stratis Masternodes, split evenly between those that are active. Masternode operators can also stake their collateral to secure the STRAX mainchain further, providing additional rewards.
The trustless dynamic membership protocol enables anyone to join the network as a functioning Masternode; however, to be accepted, you must meet a collateral requirement of 100,000 STRAX. This collateral requirement was defined by a community vote performed by the Stratis Token holder community. Sidechain Masternode operators are also encouraged to stake their collateral, providing additional distributed staking weight on the STRAX Blockchain.We have set out to make the joining process as straightforward as possible.
